During the pandemic, a source of hope for the health of our planet has emerged: the automotive industry is moving even faster towards electric vehicles than BCG predicted a year ago, says Tomislav. The global market share of electrified cars, SUVs, and other light vehicles, including hybrids, has grown from 9% in 2019 to 12% in 2020. This has remained solid in the first months of this year as well. BCG’s new forecast is that by 2026 electrified vehicles will account for more than half of light vehicle sales globally – four years sooner than we predicted earlier.
